Evening Day 14, November 11th

Hi all...

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to God. And the PEACE of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:6-7.

I just received a text from Christine. Lizzy's blast count was 20%, not the 5% or < than we had all hoped...

Going forward, as I understand it, will include extra chemo, and radiation on down the road. When the doc's first presented this option 2 weeks ago, they noted that pts. who are slow responders have done better with, not only the extra chemo, but the radiation too.

Yes, this is quite a blow, and the extra treatment will mean more potential hard side effects...
Yet, let us not grow weary in praying for, and encouraging our friends.

This stage, and these results are not new in field of pediatric oncology ...
There has been a provisional plan since Day 1....

I take comfort in knowing that others have traveled this path before Lizzy, and they have helped forge the way for us to know the next steps to take...

I take more comfort in knowing, without a doubt, that we are not on this path alone. God IS with Lizzy, Randy, Christine...us....

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I put my hope. My soul waits for the Lord....
...Put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love..." Psalm 130: 6-7

More tomorrow, after I talk to the Lothrops...
And more clarification on next steps after I make sure I understand them...(at least mostly understand them!)

Please pray:
Thank God, that even in this dissapointing season, He is present. Thank him for the medical break-throughs He has purposed...Thank him, in faith, for Lizzy's total and complete healing.

Pray for peace that passes understanding...for the Lothrops, and for us. Pray that our faith would be strengthed, and that our trust in God would not be diverted. Pray for Catherine's healing...Christine took her to the Dr. today for her bronchitis. Pray for wisdom and discernment for the medical team treating Lizzy. Pray that Lizzy would be totally and completely healed. Pray for minimal side effects, and for no 2ndary infections for Lizzy...

More tomorrow -
deb

Lothrops,
I see your last post went on at 4:20am. I hope you aren't always awake at that time of morning! Get some sleep, so you can keep your strength up for the battle. We'll keep praying! We love you guys.

Liz & All of the Lothrops,
Ever since I have known you, I have always seen you do your best work when it was most needed. Lizzy -- when I watched you play hoops and soccer, you always reached back for a little extra when the game was on the line. Your mom and dad have always been the best of friends and picked me up when I needed it most. Your grandparents stepped in and helped my family after the tornado, when we were really in need of help. With all of this in mind, I have no doubts that you will accept the extra treatment as a challenge and know that with God in your corner nothing is impossible. I truly BELIEVE that another Lothrop victory is in the future. Keep doing what the doctors say, and take good care of your mom and dad, Jim and Cat. You all are the best! Mr. Imhoff

Hi Lizzy:

I know you are probably disappointed that those darn blasts aren't <5%, BUT they are a lot less than 95%, which shows the treatment IS working! I hate that you have to go through more, but I'm sure that with all that treatment they will really be able to knock those blasts out good!

I wish I could come see you and your mother, and I heard you loved my vegetable soup!, but I've come down with a cold and want to make absolute sure that is it over before I see you. I do want you to know, though, that I have rounded up some neighbors and will have a bit of a gift for you all tomorrow:)

We're praying and thinking of you always!

With love,

The Bargos

Hey love! it may not have worked out the way we had hoped for, but the percents show a definate improvement! im praying for you everyday! God makes everything happen for a reason. when i first found out about you a few weeks ago, that was really my only comfort. so far, leukimia has brought everyone who knows you closer to you and to eachother. it has made us all take a chance everyday to stop and thank God for keeping you in good spirits and keeping you away from all the awful side effects of chemo. it has brought my school closer, even though few of them know you, so im asuming the same thing has been done at mason. this has proven to everyone that you are a fighter who will never ever give up. none of us wouldve ever been able to know the story of your friend joe(which is in my locker so i see it everyday). and even though there are plenty more reasons that God couldve had in mind, it has made me see how lucky i am to know someone who is strong, hopeful, positive, happy, and determined in a hard time in their life. ive gotten to spend a lot of time with you during practice, team bonding, and tourneys. you have absolutly know idea what an insiration to me you are. to be in your situation and be able to laugh and always have a smile on your face, is just encredible. i dont know if i could do it. keep being strong. ill be praying for you. ily tons and dont you ever forget it! <3 anna*

Dear Liz,

I have never met you, but I graduated from Sycamore a few years ago and my sister had your dad last year. I think about you every day and follow your progress through your blog. I was diagnosed with AML a couple of years ago and know many of the challenges you face. I can tell by your pictures that you radiate such positive energy that will serve you well and that your reputation is of strength and determination. Keep up that positive attitude and stay as strong as you have been!

Liz,
I can not believe how strong you have been through everyhing you have been through so far. You truely are an inspiration to everyone who knows you and knows your story. Just believe in God and believe he has a plan for you. Its all a matter of time and waiting for his plan to be complete...but I know that it will all be ok in the end. I love you a lot. Like Ginger said, a possitive attitude would make any bad siuation better. I am. I can. I will. haha Just remember that:) Ill keep praying for you.
love, emily
